Dissertation - Exploring Entanglements: Social Network Ties & Intimate Partner Violence Experiences of Queer Men


In my dissertation, I utilize social network analysis, syndemic, and social complexity frameworks to examine the role of IPV in queer men’s sexual and drug use partnerships, doing so in three interrelated papers.




Black Gender Expression, Criminalization, and Survival in the 19th Century: A Case Study of Historical News Narratives


An archival project focused on news stories about three Black individuals—Mary Jones, Frances Thompson, and William Dorsey Swann—who transgressed gender norms in different 19th-century American cities.




“Battered But Not Broken”: Intimate Partner Violence and Helpseeking in The Real Housewives of Atlanta


In a content analysis of contemporary television, I explore how Black women’s intimate partner violence experiences and responses are depicted in the long-running reality series, The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
